The basics you need to know: Natural hair for beginners… #naturalhair

Hey lovelies. This is for all my natural haired girls out here who are having a tough time understanding their hair. When you make the decision of joining the natural hair lifestyle either by transitioning or the big chop the first thing you need to find out is your hair type.. Yuppie even hair has its types they majorly range from 3a, 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b, 4c.It’s up to you to find out which is yours. The process shouldn’t be very hard. After finding out your hair type the next step should be finding out your hair porosity. When you have successfully found out your hair type and hair porosity, grooming and nurturing your hair should be a piece of cake. All you have to do is find out the do’s and don’ts of your hair…….. Below are the common ways to find out your hair type and hair porosity.

HAIR TYPE .

To find out your hair type all that needs to be done is plucking out a strand of your hair and pay close attention to the pattern of the curl of that strand.

The 2a-c hair type has loose curls, the 3a-c hair type has medium curls and the 4a-c type has tight curls.

HAIR POROSITY

To find out your hair porosity all you have to to is take a little test which is the hair porosity test. This test doesn’t take even the slightest bit of time all you have to do is after you wash your hair, pluck out a strand of your hair and put in a bowl of water, there are the incident that can occur, it’s either

  1. The strand floats
  2. The strand remains stagnant at the middle of the bowl of water, or
  3. The strand sinks and settles at the bottom of the bowl.

Proper Face Preparation before applying makeup

Make-up

Hey lovelies,

Its super frustrating and annoying when you apply makeup and after a while it literally starts pouring down your face or it looks like your face and makeup are mad at eachHey lovelies,

Its super frustrating and annoying when you apply makeup and after a while it literally starts pouring down your face or it looks like your face and makeup are mad at each other.

I know how you feel, been there done that. It took me a while to realise but i finally did just like you will when your done reading this.

Pretty sure you’ve heard of when the foundation of a building isn’t strong it collapses, that pretty much applies to everything including makeup. The solution to this heart wrenching situation is easy, all you have to do is prep your face well before makeup application.

  • Washing/Cleansing: The firststep is to wash/cleanse the face properly, the foundation of your makeup is highly important.

  • Moisturizing: this particular step shouldn’t be missed for the world, the reason being after you clean your face you rid it of all its oils. When moisturizing you have to take note of your skin type and moisturize according to it, for example me, i have and extremely oily and sensitive face so i use a alcohol free free moisturizer and make sure its water-based.

  • Priming: this step is hella important cause it serves as a base for all your other makeup products. Primer also reduces the look of the large pores, prevents an oily glow after applying the foundation, smoothens the skin and closes the pores against outer influences. There is nothing as satisfying as when you pick up a mirror to look at your face halfway into your day, and see yoir makeup still intact. A good primer surely does help with that. There are a lot of primers out there, just be sure to get that which is compatible with your skin.
